Come see the Healthy Spaces booth at the Owensboro Home Show March 3-5!
Crawlspace access wells are ugly and deteriorated! They let in rain, groundwater, debris, critters, and all manner of disgusting stuff. The homeowners of this home were tired of the seasonal water intrusion and the resulting mold and mildrew problems inherent in a flooded crawlspace.
Here is the same crawlspace with a Turtl crawlspace access door installed. The Turtl crawlspace door is airtight and able to be secured. They are designed to make for a safer and easier access without sharp edges. They are durable and much more appealing aesthetically.
These Shepherdsville homeowners have stated that with the Turtl door combined with a CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system has created a crawlspace that is dry all the time, absent of critters, and cleaner and brighter than ever!
This Shepherdsville, KY basement was experiencing flooding while a new Waterguard system was being installed. In order to keep the basement from fully flooding, the installation crew left the existing sump pump in place while completing the installation. In the first image, you can see the old sump pump had some definite design flaws. First, the sump pump discharge lines are bent, slowing the evacuation of water from the basement. Second, there isn't an airtight lid, which has lead to an increased relative humidity and higher risk of mold. The new Super Sump Pump system that you can see installed in the second image, has a straight discharge line, a powerful pump, and an airtight lid. Now that the new sump pump is in place, the old pump will be removed and the hold filled in.
We have now determined that a vented crawlspace is a bad idea. Initially, it was assumed that the vents would act like car windows and one vent would allow in fresh outdoor air and the vent on the opposite wall would let the air out, but air pressure laws preclude this from happening. Air pressure in a home makes the vents perform more like a chimney. All vents suck in air and force it upward through the home. This is called the stack effect. The rising air brings with it all the mold, mildew, dust, and allergens and disburses it throughout the home before the air leaves out the highest level.
This stack effect reduces the energy efficiency of the home and can drastically decrease the lifespan of your HVAC system, while increasing your heating and cooling bills.
Cleanspace vent covers go over the old, inefficient vent covers and leaves a clean looking finish that will seal off the outside air completely.

These homeowners from the Shepherdsville, KY area had been dealing with basement flooding and decided to have a dry basement ALL the time!
The Healthy Spaces installation team created a custom water removal system for them using Waterguard, Brightwall, and a SuperSump sump pump. The best part of the system is that each piece works together to isolate the interior of the basement from water, keeping the relative humidity low and the area free from mold and mildew--as well as the irritating odors associated with them.
Fall and Winter are the times of year where cracking and foundation settlement are most common in Shepherdsville, KY. Mr and Mrs. Franks have a fabulous brick ranch home and they noticed that there was a large stair step style crack near their front door. The Healthy Spaces design team was able to help the Franks recover their lost elevation and close the crack near the front door with Foundation Supportworks push piers. The installation team was able to completely close the existing 3/4" wide crack permanently! Mrs. Franks was very happy about the quick turn around and the fact that the brick exterior looked great!
Mr and Mrs Homeowner of Shepherdsville, KY had tried to repair their flooding crawl space several times over the last few years. They tried clear plastic rolled out on the floor, but it tore very easily and lasted just weeks. Next, they tried black plastic vapor barrier, but it was easily destroyed just by crawling across it. At last, they decided to fix the problem permanently and contacted Damon at Healthy Spaces. He came out and did a free estimate. Together, Damon and the homeowners decided that the best solution was a drainage system, drainage matting, a sump pump, and CleanSpace. Cleanspace is guaranteed against rips, tears, and water on top of the liner for 25 years!
While Richard Cline and his installation crew came out the property, they discovered a plumbing leak! Richard promptly took a picture of the leak and informed the homeowner! He even helped them describe the problem! What great service!
