Meet Robbie! Robbie is one our production crew leads! Since he was 14, he's been doing construction type work such as roofing, building homes, and electrical work. Before transferring to Healthy Spaces, Robbie previously worked for Basement Systems at a different location for 7 years and has his lead certification. One of his favorite parts about working for Healthy Spaces is being able to see the difference he's making in customer's homes from start to finish.
In Robbie's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their son. His son is a boy scout and is about to achieve Eagle Scout.
There are different levels of water intrusion in a basement. Some basements just leak a little and it doesn't feel like much of a big deal. Other basements have consistent flooding that can really fill up the space with water in no time! Because there are different amounts of water intrusion, there are different levels of sump pumps. The most powerful sump pump on the market is the TripleSafe sump pump. The rugged plastic body hold not one but three pumps set at different heights to handle every level of water intrusion possible. The first pump is for the regular water load that comes in rain or shine. The second pump is set higher up to help pump when a sudden rainstorm starts filling the basket quickly. Finally, there's a third pump even higher up that runs on a battery back up and can kick on if the pump is overwhelmed.
This Odon homeowner purchased this home and was previously told that there was waterproofing around the perimeter of the home. They would continue to get small amounts of water in the basement until they removed the downspouts from going into the ground. That solved the water issue but now their basement continued to have that smell. They decided that they needed to give Healthy Spaces a call to solve the problem.
Our System Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, quickly came to evaluate the situation. He concluded that the crawlspace would need SilverGlo, a CleanSpace liner, and a SandiDry.
SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation is able to resist heat conduction and boast a radiant barrier, which reflects heat back into their crawl space for ultimate energy savings.
Next, we installed our CleanSpace liner on top of the SilverGlo. This 20-mil poly-reinforced crawl space liner prevents water vapor and humidity from passing through. Keeping their crawl space dry, and free from mold and rot.
With a plan set, our production team came to the home to start the project.
In this comparison, you can see how the Healthy Spaces installation team is able to direct water from a leaking basement into a perimeter drain system called Waterguard, which is then connected to a high powered sump pump system to keep the basement from flooding.
You can see the gray Waterguard drainage system has been placed in a trench along the entire basement perimeter. Waterguard is a unique system because it doesn't clog like traditional French drains. One of the reasons that this doesn't happen is that Waterguard sits out of the dirt beneath your foundation--it rests on the foundation footer, where it can capture both water coming in from below and water weeping in from the walls. The entire system is cemented in place to ensure a high quality finish. In fact, Waterguard is such an effective system that you can finish your basement and forget that it's there.
Homeowner Mike, who lives in Boonville, IN, has noticed that his floors have begun to slowly sag over the years. After doing some research, he reached out to Healthy Spaces to have his situation assessed. Design Specialist, Donnie Stuteville, looked at her issue and proposed him a SmartJack System.
The SmartJack System is made of zinc-plate and hot-dip galvanized steel to prevent rust and eliminate weakening from moisture, mold, and wood rot. They had a load capacity of more than 60,000 pounds making them ideal for stabilizing a home's sagging floor. The concrete is dug up and filled with tightly-compacted crushed stone to provide the proper weight barring exertion needed for each column. Once the holes are filled, the SmartJacks are installed and cemented down to the floor and connected to the girder system. Each SmartJack is tightened to permanently stabilize the floor, and even potentially lift the floors back to level.
Sharon B. of Princeton, IN, had a damp, wet, leaking crawl space that could not keep water and moisture out. Sharon needed a solution in order to keep her crawl space dry, mold-free, and would save her money on her electric bill.
Healthy Spaces installed a system that would keep her crawl space dry and mold free. We installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier, SilverGlo™ insulation wall panels, SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, an EZ Flow Drain which will direct water to the SmartSump pump system. Outside Healthy Spaces installed IceGuard and a LawnScape outlet at the end of the discharge line.
