For a long time, I had problems with sagging floors and creaking when I walked through the house. I saw Healthy Spaces' ad on Facebook and called. Chris came out and inspected the crawl space. He found mold, moisture and a leaking toilet which I didn't know about. I was impressed with his knowledge and ability to explain it in a way I could understand. Right away I knew this was the company I needed. The crew, Robert (crew leader), Sam and Derrick were very friendly, professional and took pride in their work. Robert took pictures everyday to show me the progress they had made and answer any questions I had. They cleaned up any mess they made and left everything the way they found it. I HIGHLY recommend Healthy Spaces for your "down under".

This Fairfield, IL family used their basement as storage for decorations, exercise equipment, and old keepsakes. They started to experience water intrusion a couple of years ago, but they didn't think it was anything to worry about, but they learned they were wrong. The crack that once started small had grown, allowing a decent amount of water to get into the basement every time it rained and stormed. The homeowners were tired of worrying about the "what if's" and gave us a call.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, was sent to the home to do a thorough inspection. After he was finished, he concluded that the basement would need a few upgrades to keep it dry. First, a WaterGuard system was installed. This system is buried into the perimeter of the basement and covered with concrete so you can't see it. The water that is caught from the WaterGuard goes directly to the port, and it drained into the new TripleSafe sump pump and released through the discharge line. They decided to install longer discharge lines to keep the water flowing away from the home. Lastly, they installed a CleanSpace wall barrier acts as a barrier to keep mold and moisture out of the basement.
Homeowner John B., in Albion, IL started noticing water building up in his crawl space. If left alone, humidity and excess moisture can lead to mold growth, wood rot, and pest infestations. Crawl space moisture often migrates upstairs through the "stack effect," contributing to structural damage, musty odors, and high energy bills.
Our team first had to go in and perform mold remediation. Next our team installed a waterproofing system in the crawl space that included a SmartSump Crawl Space sump pump system and EZ Flow Drainage. The last step was to install a durable vapor barrier made of a 20-mil material similar to a pool liner called CleanSpace. CleanSpace® 20 mil vapor barrier is puncture and tear resistant. An anti-microbial agent is blended into the liner to kill mold and bacteria. John will now have peace of mind knowing that his crawl space in Albion, IL is clean and dry.
Homeowner Jennifer M. from Mt. Vernon Indiana knew that her crawl space needed a makeover. This crawl space was pretty typical for the area: dirt floor, occasional flooding, open vents and doorways, and uninsulated walls. All these factors had contributed to another factor -- mold.
This crawl space needed a total facelift and System Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, made sure it became a reality. Bob completed a thorough inspection of Jennifer's crawl space, and then they worked together to create a plan that they agreed on.
Our crew first started with remediating all of the mold growing in the crawl space. From there, the crawl space will then be encapsulated. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm white thick plastic lining that entirely seals off the crawl space from the harsh elements below. It keeps mold and moisture from growing on it as well and especially helps in hot summer months, which is the exact opposite of what her crawl space was before. Jennifer's home and crawl space is finally healthy and is a great place for extra storage.
Mary L. from Slaughters, KY was experiencing water in her basement, especially when there was heavy rain. She would have her shop vac ready to clean up all the water. Countless hours were spent worrying about what would happen to her basement if she wasn't there because many important documents, as well as memories, were stored there.
Upon receiving Mary's call for help, Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham was scheduled to do a thorough inspection of her basement. When he arrived, they greeted each other with a smile and the work began. He recommended that a new drainage system be installed to prevent any more leaking. This drainage system would be under the concrete, so it wouldn't be noticeable. It runs straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump that was also installed. The CleanSpace vapor barrier on the walls helps protect and keep the space dry, as well as prevent mold growth.
Tim G. from Madisonville called knew there was water in his crawl space but always ignored it. The water especially gathered around the perimeter of the crawl space and was always puddled. Along with the water came mold. Tim knew the air he was breathing wasn't healthy so he decided to give us a call, and we were so glad he did.
Our design specialist Bob Roberts came out to do a free inspection and decided that Tim's crawl space would need mold remediation, a new sump pump, and CleanSpace installed. Our crew first started with remediating all of the mold growing in the crawl space. The SmartSump will be an exit line for the water that gets into the crawl space. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm white thick plastic lining that entirely seals off the crawl space from the harsh elements below. It keeps mold and moisture from growing on it as well and especially helps in hot summer months.
Before Healthy Spaces came out to fix this Crofton, KY crawl space, there was a surplus of mold growing on every surface in their crawl space. They had been in their home several years but put the thought of a moldy crawl space in the back of their minds. What they didn't know was that a mold problem only grows bigger and bigger the longer you leave it alone. Ultimately, the mold will end up ruining your home, your health and your family's well being.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, came out to the home to offer solutions to their problems. Here you can see in the before and after photo that our team worked to remove all the debris and organic material from the crawl space. With that out of the way, they could start the mold removal process. The first step is to seal off openings to prevent cross-contamination and then remove airborne contaminants by using air scrubbers. Next, we used a HEPA vacuum to remove any loose contaminants. And lastly, we applied a solution that foams on contact, then it penetrates the soil load which will leave a contaminate free surface.
The after photo shows the amazing difference that the mold remediation team at Healthy Spaces created.
Karleen H. from Cannelton, IN had recently bought a new home. The Inspector didn't find any mold, but after moving in, the crawl space smelled very musty. They hadn't been down there since they moved in but knew that they needed to turn this job over to the professionals. They gave Healthy Spaces a call and we went out to do a free no-obligation inspection.
System Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, inspected the home and proposed a solution. First, the mold filled vapor barrier was pulled up by our install crew. Not only that, but the barrier itself has pulled away from the walls and wrinkled up to the point that it is not functional. From there, we installed CleanSpace. Our CleanSpace encapsulation system is lined in crawl spaces to permanently separate your home from the ground. This is part of a healthy crawl space and a healthy home. The new SmartSump sump pump is used for your crawl space drainage system. It is designed just for crawl spaces because the liner and lid form a tight seal around the CleanSpace liner.
Karleen is happy with her transformed crawl space and is even happier that the mold smell is gone.
Homeowner Joshua W. thought he had mold growing on his subfloor and moisture in his vents. He grew concerned that the quality of air would be affecting his family, so he called Healthy Spaces for a free estimate and Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, came out and inspected the home.
For starters, we eliminated, treated, and cleaned up all the mold growing in the damp crawl space. The after photo shows the amazing difference that the mold remediation team at Healthy Spaces created. They treated the affected area with a chemical to kill the mold, then thoroughly scrubbed every surface to remove the spores and dead mold. After removing the debris they were able to repair any damage from the mold in the subfloor. We installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system along with SilverGlo insulation panels in the crawl space to make sure it stays protected. Lastly, we installed vent covers and a new SmartSump with an alarm so that the crawl space would stay dry.
