This Kentucky homeowner had previously had a mold inspection done in their crawl space. When they got the results, the test came back high. They immediately contacted Healthy Spaces to get a head start on the mold problem that was living beneath them.
One of our trained Design Specialists arrived at the home and completed a thorough inspection of the crawl space. He noticed the mold and recommended that the homeowners get it remediated. On top of that, he recommended that the debris from inside was removed before the mold treatment. The homeowners agreed and also opted to put a 6mil vapor barrier.
The crawl space is now free of mold and has a much more pleasant smell throughout the whole home.
This Payneville, KY crawl space was full of mold, moisture, and mud and the homeowners needed a solution to repair and prevent the damage from reoccurring. As you know, the earth is damp, and as that damp soil dries beneath your house, the water vapor moves upward. The dirt floor in the before picture makes for an easy passageway for moisture to enter the crawl space and cause problems.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, was sent to the home to discuss what steps they could take to stop more damage. To prevent issues like these, the CleanSpace barrier was installed. This has multiple layers of plastics with flexibility and tear resistance to stop water vapor from permeating up from the floor. When the CleanSpace liner is laid over the floor of the crawl space, water can seep or even flow under it to the sump, keeping your crawl space clean and dry. This encapsulation system satisfied all of the repair criteria while dramatically transforming the area into a healthy, usable space. This crawl space now has no more humidity than upstairs.
Nick C. from Eckerty, IN knew there was something going on in his crawl space. He had purchased the home a year ago, and began to notice an odd smell. As time went on, the smell only got worse, so he did a quick Google search and reached out to us at Healthy Spaces to do a free inspection.
We send a System Design Specialist to Nick's home to asses the mold situation going on in his crawl space. In order to prevent mold from growing, the basement and crawl space must be kept dry and without humidity. The key to controlling mold in your basement or crawl space is to eliminate the humidity that keeps it thriving. Nick agreed and Steven, the lead of our Mold Crew, came out and started the process. Our remediation process includes removing all mold-damaged materials, drying out the basement or crawl space, and thoroughly cleaning all surfaces.
Nick noticed the smell beginning to go away and was so thankful that he made the call to Healthy Spaces.
Bob V., from French Lick, IN was living in the 1973 home that was handed down to him from his in-laws. After their first flood in the home, Bob discovered mold behind the drywall in one of the bedrooms in the basement, as well as cracking on the floor. The window wells also fill up with water, and water gushes in through them while it's raining. Once this happened, he decided to reach out to Healthy Spaces for a free estimate.
Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, was called out to help Bob determine what would aid his issues best. After Mike made a thorough inspection of the issues, he advised starting with a WaterGuard system and TripleSafe. This system would ensure that any water in the basement would run straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump. From there, it would flow through discharge lines and be returned outside. To prevent the window issues, Bob would also have new SunHouse Window Wells installed. These enclosures feature a sturdy, clear cover that fits nicely and a bottom that prevents weed growth, keeps leaves, debris, and rain out.
When Dane H. from French Lick, IN would walk across his floors upstairs, he knew they were uneven. Every time he walked across them, they creaked. Dane had been putting them off, but finally decided that enough was enough. He decided to call Healthy Spaces to see what the best solution would be.
Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, came out to do a thorough inspection of Danes basement. To stabilize the floor upstairs, 4 SmartJacks were installed. These SmartJacks are a steel support system that is used to permanently stabilize and level the girders and floor joists. They don't replace the existing columns and piers but add strength and stability to what is there. After these are installed, they lift the above floors and walls back toward their original position.
Since the work was completed, Dane hasn't heard his creaking floors.
Homeowners in Cloverport, KY called Healthy Spaces in a panic when they noticed water in their basement. They were tired of constantly worrying about what could happen to their home if they weren't home when it rained, so they decided to find a solution.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, came to the customers home to help provide the best solution.
In this home, we installed our popular WaterGuard system with a new sump pump. The WaterGuard system is installed along the perimeter of the basement and has a special flange to catch wall moisture. If water does happen to come in, it is directed through the WaterGuard into the SuperSump, then removed far from the basement through the discharge line.
Homeowner Joshua W. thought he had mold growing on his subfloor and moisture in his vents. He grew concerned that the quality of air would be affecting his family, so he called Healthy Spaces for a free estimate and Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, came out and inspected the home.
For starters, we eliminated, treated, and cleaned up all the mold growing in the damp crawl space. The after photo shows the amazing difference that the mold remediation team at Healthy Spaces created. They treated the affected area with a chemical to kill the mold, then thoroughly scrubbed every surface to remove the spores and dead mold. After removing the debris they were able to repair any damage from the mold in the subfloor. We installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system along with SilverGlo insulation panels in the crawl space to make sure it stays protected. Lastly, we installed vent covers and a new SmartSump with an alarm so that the crawl space would stay dry.
Homeowner Greg K. noticed that water was easily seeping into his basement. He also realized that when it rained, his sump pump was no longer doing its job. With a lot of important information and valuables stored in the basement, Greg couldn't afford for the rain to ruin them.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, met with Greg to discuss his issues and what he wanted in his new basement. After the discussion, they decided that the basement needed a new WaterGuard system and TripleSafe sump pump. The WaterGuard is a drain system that goes around the perimeter of the basement to collect any water that might come in. From there, the water would be transferred to the TripleSafe sump pump where it would be taken outside of the home and disposed of. The nice thing about the TripleSafe is that is has a backup battery so if the power goes out during a storm, the sump pump will still work.
Greg is now loving his new basement, and can now relax during rain knowing that no water will be able to intrude and cause him problems.
This Hawesville, KY basement would leak every time it rained. The homeowners needed a solution to repair and prevent the damage from reoccurring because they were tired of worrying about it. Their basement was full of valuable tools, equipment, keepsakes, and even a treadmill that they frequently used.
Our Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, quickly came to evaluate the home. After inspection, he concluded that the basement would need a WaterGuard system and a TripleSafe sump pump installed. The homeowners wanted something to cover the walls, so they decided on CleanSpace and Basement to Beautiful Panels.
A WaterGuard system would be used to take the intruding water straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump, where it would then be taken through exit lines and disposed of outside of the home. The CleanSpace wall covering brightens your basement, while also acting as a vapor barrier. The Basement to Beautiful Panels are custom engineered foam panels with studs that are fastened directly to your foundation walls. If the homeowners decide they want additional wall coverings over the panels, it will be an easy fix while still keeping it dry.
Homeowner Rita, from Odon, IN had a finished basement that would leak water. Having window wells that were over 25 years old and uncovered made an easy path for water to leak in. Since the basement has low air pressure (sucking air in), the cold winter air or warm humid summertime air is pulled into the basement. You end up paying more in heating, cooling, and dehumidification costs than if you were to replace the windows.
Rita gave Healthy Spaces a call and Design Specialist Jake Stilwell, quickly came to evaluate her basement windows. He concluded that Rita would need 5 new EverLast basement windows, along with our SunHouse window enclosures. EverLast windows are all vinyl so they'll never rot, rust, or need to be painted. They also have double pane glass and good weather stripping for warmth and comfort. Our SunHouse basement window enclosures feature a sturdy, clear cover that fits nicely and a bottom that prevents weed growth, keeps leaves, debris, and rain out. The best benefit of the SunHouse for Rita to enjoy is that it allows more sunlight to bounce into her basement giving her natual sunlight.
This Reynolds Station, KY basement was having water issues that the homeowner couldn't keep up with. He would always have to plan what he was doing around the weather forecast to make sure he could be home or have a backup ready if water leaked into his basement. Tired of a wet basement, the homeowner decided to call Healthy Spaces for a permanent solution.
Our System Design Specialist, Jason Dausmann, met with the homeowner to discuss his issues. Jason completed an inspection of the basement and designed a plan for this basement that was sure to keep it water-free. From there, the installer crew got straight to work. The solution to this basement was to install a full perimeter WaterGuard system to prevent water to enter the area. This system is installed around the perimeter of the basement and will collect water internally and channel it to the sump pump. The sump pump will then discharge the water away from the home.
The homeowner is very pleased with his try basement!
Our friends from Jasper, IN were experiencing a damp, nasty crawl space. They began to notice an order, and as time progressed, the smell worsened. Friends and family that entered the home began to notice the smell when they walked in as well. One night, these homeowners heard our ad on the radio and decided to give us a call.
Upon sending our System Design Specialist to do an inspection in the crawl space, we were able to pinpoint why the odors were coming from the crawl space. Mold had taken over, and the exposed earth was causing moisture and humidity. From here, our Design Specialist went over what could be done to solve these issues with the homeowner.
For starters, a mold remediation cleaning process would need to be done to begin the crawl space transformation. After this, a full CleanSpace encapsulation system to seal the outside earth from the crawl space. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier will keep any crawl space dry. It is a high-efficiency system that takes up to 100 pints of water per day. Since the crawl space is now a bright, healthy, functional, and dry space, it is perfect for storage and also increased the health of everyone in the family.
Homeowner Kyla K. from Jasper, IN was experiencing water in her basement. She dreaded hearing the weather forecast, especially when it called for rain. With every rainfall, water would slowly creep into the basement. They bought fans to constantly run after storms to dry up the sitting water. She chose to add optimism to the problem, believing it would either go away or fix itself, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. They had dealt with their dreadful basement for quite some time and finally decided that it was time to call for help.
System Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, sat down with the homeowner and gave her a same-day quote after his thorough inspection. The WaterGuard drainage system that Bob recommended seemed like the best fit. With this system, there are spacers against the wall make a neat finished look and keep dirt and debris from the floor out of the gap, while also directing water to the new TripleSafe sump pump. The sump pump would then redirect water outside through exit lines.
Now, Kyla can enjoy her water-free basement and can listen to the weather forecast without being alarmed when there was rain in the prediction.
This Huntingburg, IN basement had an older sump pump that wasn't able to keep up with water when it rained heavy. Homeowner Ruth, feared the worst for items in her basement every time the forecast called for rain. After too many sleepless nights Ruth's neighbor refered her to Healthy Spaces.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, after doing a thorough inspection of her basement worked with Ruth to design a system that worked best for her. Crew leads Shawn Brown and Robbie Stoutenberg, installed our WaterGuard along with our TripleSafe sump pump system. WaterGuard is a piping system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems effectively without worry of clogging from soils under the floor. The TripleSafe drains water from the WaterGuard and from below the basement floor it discharges it out of the basement. Included with the TripleSafe are two reliable cast iron Zoeller pumps and a battery back-up pump. Installing WaterGuard with our TripleSafe sump pump system will keep Ruth's basement clean and dry for many years to come giving her peace of mind when the forecast calls for rain.
Cold air and moisture were preventing this Huntingburg basement from having walls that they loved. After homeowner Ruth, had her basement waterproofed with our WaterGuard drainage system and a new TripleSafe sump pump, she could then think about upgrading her basement walls.
Our System Design Specialist Bob Roberts came to Ruth's home to evaluate her basement walls. They found basement dandruff which consists of paint and wall coatings that flake off over time. What caused this was her basement walls allowing water vapor to pass through them. Block walls have a hollow core which allow cold (and damp) water to pass through them easily.
Crew leads, Shawn Brown and Robbie Stoutenberg, installed our CleanSpace Wall System in Ruth's home. CleanSpace is a heavy, durable plastic liner for lining stone wall basements. The CleanSpace wall system stops water vapor from permeating walls and drains wall leaks, and brightens up your basement. With anti-microbial protection called UltraFresh built right in, no mold or mildew will grow on the CleanSpace! This Huntingburg homeowner will never have to worry about her walls chipping, peeling, or flaking away thanks to Healthy Spaces installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier.
Dennis E. from Montogmery, IN called Healthy Spaces because water had been taking over his basement. When it would rain, he would be waiting for water to creep in, while the uncertainty of how much would enter his basement kept him worrying. He had a shopvac ready to soak up all of the water, as well as fans to help everything dry up quickly. Dennis and his family were ready to have their life back.
Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, was called to the job. After completing a thorough inspection of the basement, he decided that a WaterGuard system would best conquer the issues the basement was having. This is a drainage system installed around the perimeter of the basement that collects any water that may leak in. From there, the water runs to the sump pump, which is then disposed of out of discharge lines. Mike also inspected that GeoLocks were needed to help the basements foundation become stable. This system will hold the walls in their current position and can be tightened over time if needed. This will allow for improvement and straightening of the wall. Lastly, CleanSpace was installed to be a wall covering, but also a moisture control barrier just in time for the hot summer months.
When the work was finished, Dennis was very pleased with the work that was done and was happy that there won't be any more leaking water in his basement.
Starr N. from Lewisport, KY was having issues with her floors. She had noticed that they were beginning to slope, creak, and felt uneven. As if the creaking floors weren't enough, she also noticed a musty smell worsening over time, which she thought could be mold.
System Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, came to Starr's home to provide her with a free no-obligation inspection. He did a thorough inspection of her crawl space, as well as her main floor. When he was finished, he proposed a solution for the sagging floor. He recommended that SmartJack Stabilizers be installed. These are steel support systems used to stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space. This is the best opportunity to lift the above floors and walls back to their original position. This would be a permanent solution, unlike the light-duty jack posts that were currently in the crawl space. These don't work because they can hold very little weight, are difficult to adjust, and don't address the most important problem- the weak foundation soils below.
If you need a solution from a trustworthy contractor who will solve your problem... permanently, click here.
Whitesville, KY homeowner Ashlee K. had noticed that the dehumidifier in their vault room was no longer working. They purchased it from a big name box store, and it obviously didn't do its job. Without the dehumidifier running and filtering the air, the moisture was at an all-time high. It caused mold growth in their basement, which could also lead to illness and awful smells. Once they began to notice the mold, the panicked. They didn't want their home to be unhealthy, so they gave us a call.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, was sent to the home to complete a thorough inspection. He concluded that the dehumidifier wasn't doing its job and recommended that it definitely be replaced with a SaniDry XP Upright Dehumidifier which removes up to 109 liters of water per day. The latest generation of SaniDry dehumidifiers is more powerful and energy-efficient than ever! Each one includes a comprehensive, written warranty upon installation.
Homeowners from Otwell, IN would notice water seeping in their basement every time it rained. Not only was water a problem, but they were also having mold growth. They knew that it couldn't be healthy for their family. They finally got tired of feeling stressed and overwhelmed, so they reached out to Healthy Spaces for a free estimate.
Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, assisted the homeowners in deciding all of the necessities for a dry, healthy basement. They began the process with a fungus remediation process to make sure the spores were gone which meant clean air for the home. Secondly, they installed a WaterGuard System. This drainage system takes water straight to the sump pump and out of the basement through discharge lines. Lastly, CleanSpace was installed to give the basement a finished look on a budget.
These homeowners are so happy with the finished project and now have the peace of mind they've always dreamed of having.
This family in Maceo, KY never went down to their crawl space. It was an "out of sight, out of mind" thing for them, but what they didn't know is that their crawl space was full of mold. In the before photo, you can see a nasty, old vapor barrier that has torn and become covered in mold. Not only that, but the barrier itself has pulled away from the walls and wrinkled up to the point that it is not functional.
Healthy Spaces was called to help the homeowners get their crawl space back to a healthy and clean state. Our Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, created a plan to keep the crawl space dry and moisture-free. The SilverGlo insulation panels contain tiny graphite particles, which give it that silver shine, and reflect heat back into the crawl space while keeping the cold out. A new plastic liner was also put down on the floor to help keep water and debris out.
The combination of the liner and SilverGlo, This Maceo, KY crawl space is now smell free, mold-free, and warm. By keeping moisture and cold air out she will also have lower energy costs which will save her money as well.
A wet, musty, basement is something no one wants to deal with. Unfortunately, this was something Ken from Hartford, KY had been dealing with for years. Ken had a small basement leaking many places along the perimeter, especially in the corners. He said it is what he calls a utility basement that covers the middle half of the house, so he decided to call in the experts at Healthy Spaces, and a Design Specialist came to his home to do an inspection.
This homeowner took the wind right out of those worries with a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard. Our amazing crews installed this system on the footing of the home by removing a small amount of concrete around the base of the basement wall. The drain is put in place and the concrete is replaced aside from the small gap seen along the perimeter. A TripleSafe sump pump is then installed to take the water from the WaterGuard, outside, through the discharge line.
With cracking in this Edwardsport, IN basement walls happening before homeowner, Seth S. eyes, he knew it was a project much larger than he could fix himself. A few years ago, the crack started out small, but over time it widened and grew. He decided to give Healthy Spaces a call about his foundation issues, and an appointment was quickly set.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, came to Seth's home and did a thorough inspection of his basement. Once they put a plan together, our foundation crew came out and installed PowerBraces to support the walls. The PowerBrace is an adjustable steel I-beam system with two important benefits: stabilizing bowed or tilting walls, and (over time) forcing bowed or tilting wall sections back to their original position. All PowerBrace components are manufactured to exacting standards, with an anti-corrosion zinc coating that will keep them looking like new for decades to come!
This homeowner in Tennyson, IN, knew that the reason the basement was leaking was because of a window. They were rusty, ugly, and open at the top allowing debris, rain, and gutter overflow water to sneak in. The bottom of the window well was dirt which allowed weeds to grow and mud to splash up on the window. The view from his basement was lousy and the maximum amount of natural light wasn't being allowed in.
Design Specialist, Chris Russel, was sent to help the homeowner come up with a plan to fix the windows.
A SunHouse window well cover was this homeowner's easy solution. This light-colored window well features a clear cover that fits nicely and a bottom that prevents weed growth while keeping leaves, debris, and rain out. One of the best benefits is that a lot more sunlight bounces into the basement and brightens up the space because of the light-colored bottom.
What's worse than a wet basement? These Owensboro, KY homeowners didn't know the answer to that either. With every rainfall, water would slowly creep into their basement. They bought fans to constantly run after storms to dry up the sitting water. They thought they fixed it themselves- once and for all, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. On top of the water problems, there was also mold growth occurring because of the water intrusion that was happening.
Chris Russel, one of our certified Design Specialists were sent out to the home to inspect the basement and let the homeowners the best solution to keep water out. A WaterGuard system was the answer. The WaterGuard spacers against the wall make a neat finished look and keep dirt and debris from the floor out of the gap, while not being seen. After the water is collected through the WaterGuard system, it is taken to the sump pump where it is pumped outside and away from the home through discharge lines.
Homeowner Richard G. From Livermore, KY gave Healthy Spaces a call when he was finally done with all of his issues happening in his basement. Water was leaking into his basement from several different areas, and this "drain" wasn't doing its job. Debris had piled up around it, preventing water from going in. A System Design Specialist was sent to Richards home to diagnose and treat the problems that the basement was having.
Together, they talked through a solution that Richard loved. A WaterGuard system was installed around the perimeter of his basement that would direct the water to his new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The Triple Safe sump pump has three sump pumps in one. The first pump will do most of the pumping effectively. The second sump pump will be there in case the first one fails. The second pump is more powerful and has a separate discharge line to give you a boost in the rare cases you need it. The third pump is designed using batteries so it will be there for you if the power goes out. The Triple Safe sump pump is the best option because it adjusts automatically when needed and keeps your basement dry with triple protection!
Richard can now rest assured knowing that his basement is protected from water.
Richard G. from Utica, KY was having water issues in his home. Granted, his home was over 100 years old. It was built in 1904 and the water issues were just getting worse as time went on. One of his friends had used our services and recommended us. Richard picked up the phone and scheduled a free inspection.
System Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, did a thorough inspection of Richard's basement and pinpointed the problems he saw. Richard agreed to the plan that Damon had come up with, and our production team did the rest. A WaterGuard system was installed to run any intruding water straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump. The water would then run outside from the discharge lines of the sump pump. A CleanSpace vapor is a heavy, durable, plastic liner that provides a vapor barrier while also draining water behind it and dramatically brightens the basement.
If you're struggling with a wet basement problem, don't wait, we're here to help.
Homeowner Jared G. from Oakland City, IN was ready to make all of his basement dreams come true. With the condition of his former basement, he never went down there. Mold covered the walls, and water was puddled on the floor. The space was not healthy and it was a waste of square footage in his home. He decided he wanted a place to hang out with his family and friends and make the investment so if he ever decided he wanted to sell his home, it would be worth more.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, was called to do a thorough inspection of Jared's basement. In conclusion, the basement needed mold remediation and a WaterGuard system to make the basement dry. The mold was coated all over the block walls, but it was removed and treated by our crew. The WaterGuard system is a drainage system around the perimeter of the basement which drains directly into your sump pump when water enters through the walls of your basement.
For the finishing products, Jared chose to install MillCreek Flooring. These have the warm, earthy look of wood, but are all plastic. One of the great characteristics of these floors is if there is ever a leak on these floors, just fix it and dry the area, and it's good as new.
Homeowners Robert and Juliet of Lynville, IN began to worry when they saw visible cracks in their foundation. This is often a sign of your home settling. It was bulging out due to swelling soils. The soil was swelling because groundwater was present. That created another problem--leaking walls.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, was called out to help these homeowners. Upon inspection, they decided that the PowerBrace System would be the best fit for the problem. The PowerBrace System is designed to permanently stabilize your home's foundation. Its purpose is to support basement walls and allows for straightening over time. It has a joist reinforcement method which helps with distributing the weight evenly. This eliminates the worry of damaged wood floor joists that are common with other foundation correcting systems.
Water in the basement is never a good thing because it leads to increased moisture, mold, and an unhappy homeowner. This Island, KY homeowner was feeling all of these things. She finally decided to call Healthy Spaces for a free inspection.
Upon receiving Mary's call for help, Design Specialist, Mike McAtee was scheduled to do a thorough inspection of her basement. When he arrived, they greeted each other with a smile and the work began. He recommended that a new drainage system be installed to prevent any more leaking. This drainage system would be under the concrete, so it wouldn't be noticeable. It runs straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump that was also installed.
Ron S, from Elberfeld, IN was having 2 main problems with his basement: water and mold. As these are common problems, he knew they don't create a healthy environment to live in. Since water always finds the path of least resistance, it would intrude during rains through the cracks in the basement walls. With the water often sitting in the basement, it leads to a mold issue. The mold was growing on organic material, such as wood. Ron knew that he should call someone to come take a look before the problem got worse.
System Design Specialist, Chris Russell, inspected Ron's basement and noticed the standing water and mold growth as well. After the inspection, they sat down and Chris provided an estimate for the work, and Ron was ready to move forward to get his basement back to health. For starters, a mold remediation treatment was done through the basement to get rid of the mold.
