Fred F. was experiencing consistent groundwater intrusion in his Jasper, IN basement. The basement was fully finished and the carpet was pulled back. Fred attempted to resolve the problem by using a waterproofing skim coat on the walls and floor. Unfortunately, that did not resolve the problem and leaking continued. Fred F. called Healthy Spaces to resolve the leaking basement problem.
Fred's leaking basement problems were resolved by installing a full perimeter drainage system called Waterguard that will direct the water into a Triple Safe sump pump. Once the water enters the Triple Safe Sump pump, the water was directed out of the basement a safe distance away.
Fred F of Jasper, IN has been very happy with his Waterguard system and has reported no further water intrusion--his basement is dry all the time!
The homeowners of this Huntingburg, IN crawlspace were plagued with crawlspace problems--a nasty entry that was drafty and unsecured, a flooding dirt floor with weeping crawlspace walls, a mold problem, and more!
The Healthy Spaces installation team installed 1320 sq ft of CleanSpace over a full perimeter EZ Flow drainage system, complete with SuperSump sump pump. They installed a durable discharge line with IceGuard protection, and a Turtl crawlspace door.
The crawlspace is now dry and ready for storage and the Turtl crawlspace door can be secured to keep the items inside safe!
Flooding basements can be a huge headache and a terrible energy and time suck. The homeowners of this Ferdinand, IN home were sick and tired of the constant flooding in their basement. They contacted Healthy Spaces to have a permanent solution designed to keep their basement dry all the time.
Daniel, the design specialist with Healthy Spaces, designed a custom waterproofing solution for this basement. The basement will have the following installed:
--136 linear feet of Waterguard
--2 Waterguard ports (for cleaning and maintenance)
--1 SuperSump sump pump from Zoeller
--1 Iceguard to prevent the discharge line from freezing
--1 LawnScape outlet where the water will exit the discharge line.
--144 linear feet of CleanSpace Wall system
The system will clear both floor and wall water leakage and keep the relative humidity in the basement low to keep mold from growing. The SuperSump is a powerful Zoeller pump that will pump out all the water and keep relative humidity low with its strong, antimicrobial lid.
This Ferdinand, IN home, just like many others in the area, is suffering from basement flooding. The homeowners were so tired of the water and the wet walls. Wall leakage is a common issue in block foundation walls like theirs and they just want the problem resolved!
The installation team at Healthy Spaces has installed 108 linear feet of Waterguard with 3 Waterguard ports for cleaning and maintenance. The Waterguard system is the best solution for this wall and floor leakage situation because Waterguard has the ability to capture and direct floor water and a specialized flange on the top to capture wall leakage, too! The installation tea also placed 120 linear feet of CleanSpace wall system along the basement walls in order to direct the wall leakage and moisture more effectively into the Waterguard system will reducing the relative humidity in the basement. The SuperSump Sump pump will direct the groundwater out of the basement and far away from the home to keep the basement dry all the time!
A Ferdinand, IN home had been flooding off and on with the rain for years. More recently, the homeowners had noticed that the walls would weep, even after the rain stopped. It was creating and exacerbating the flooding and mold issues. The homeowners met with Damon Cheatham regarding these issues.
Damon created a custom system to hand the wall leaks as well as the rain-induced flooding. The plan called for 108 linear feet of Waterguard, a french-drain style system, that sits along the interior perimeter of the basement along the footer. In addition, he recommended CleanSpace Wall System to direct wall moisture into the Waterguard system. The homeowners selected a SuperSump Sump pump with battery back up, and an extra long discharge line to remove water very far away from the house.
These homeowners had a rather unique situation where they had a 1956 house built atop a basement and a later 1977 addition built over a dirt floor crawlspace. These two areas both had flooded in the past and smelled wet continuously. The crawlspace was a bit of a question mark to the homeowners because neither was willing to crawl inside to check it out.
The Healthy Spaces team installed 97 linear feet of Waterguard in the basement and 396 square feet of CleanSpace in the crawlspace. Both areas received comprehensive Forticell and Biocide treatments first to remove mold and fungus.
This Celestine, IN home was suffering from a real problem! Expansive soils were pressing inward on the block foundation with tremendous force. The basement walls were cracked and shifting. The homeowners were concerned that these problems were getting markedly worse this summer and needed a permanent solution. They had read about anchoring walls and wanted Healthy Spaces to see what could be done.
In this case, there wasn't enough clearance between the walls and the edge of the property to properly allow for wall anchoring, so the design specialist from Healthy Spaces offered an alternative: PowerBraces. PowerBraces are rugged I-Beams that can be placed at intervals vertically along a bowing wall to provide resistance and stabilization for a bowing wall. They secure to the subfloor and footer to provide long term stabilization with very little loss of space on the interior of the basement and no required clearance on the outside. All in all, a perfect solution! Now, the homeowners have their gym back and a peace of mind that the foundation is stabilized.
Dubois, IN, like most of the surrounding area, suffers from increased levels of groundwater. This is due to the proximity to natural water catches, rainfall, and the soil. This leads to all sorts of problems for homeowners with basements. "Dubois, IN basements tend to have fungus and mold problems because of their increased humidity levels and frequent flooding," says Chris Russell, Design Specialist for Healthy Spaces.
Chris met with Mark and his wife in their Dubois, IN home and discovered a fungus problem that was really getting out of control. The 1325 sq foot basement was pungent and the fungus was visible to the naked eye throughout the perimeter and along the walls. The homeowners had previously coated the floor, wall joint, and first 9" of the walls with a rubberized paint to try and help stop flooding, but the mineralized groundwater was sitting on the foundation walls behind the paint and allowing fungus to grow.
The first step was to remove all the rubberized coating and remediate the fungus. Next, the trenches were jackhammered along the perimeter of the basement to allow for 160 linear feet of Waterguard to be installed. The Waterguard system is a perfect application in this situation because it has a special flange along the side that captures wall moisture as well as groundwater welling up from the foundation footer. Due to the amount of water present around the perimeter, the homeowners opted for a powerful TripleSafe Sump pump, which has three pumps inside the casing to handle even the most torrential downpour!
This Saint Anthony, IN home was having a settling floor problem. The homeowners contacted Chris Russell at Healthy Spaces to have their foundation examined. Chris took measurements throughout the basement, as well as on the ground outside the home and came to the conclusion that the foundation wall was bowing and the slab was settling/sinking. The problem was caused by a low lying area of the ground and poor drainage at the nearest downspout. Chris recommended that the downspout be extended and that the grade be redone in that section. Next, he designed a slab jack repair system to return the lost elevation to the slab and wall anchors to gradually straighten the wall.
To meet the homeowner's goals, Chris and the Healthy Spaces team fixed the downspout and exterior grading right away. They will come back in the late winter to install the slab jacks and wall anchors once the soils have had a chance to dry out further.
Jeff in Birdseye, IN, starting smelling a musty odor coming from his crawl space and was interested in getting a free inspection for a moisture barrier and insulation.
After setting up his appointment and having one of our System Design Specialists out, together they decided to install a new 6mil Vapor Barrier, along with covering his open vents.
