Tranforming Vine Grove, KY Basements and Crawlspaces into Healthy Spaces

Waterguard in a Vine Grove, KY basement

One of the best parts of being a part of a great community is meeting people you've helped at

the store and hearing how much their lives have changed because of something you did!" says Damon Cheatham of Healthy Spaces. He's recently been able touch base with three of the Vine Grove, KY homeowners that he has helped:

Wet Basement Repaired:
Dale W had Waterguard and a Super Sump installed in his basement just about a month ago to combat leaking walls. Dale told us that from the first day that he moved in over 6 years ago, the walls have leaked all spring and summer, as well as occasional issues in the fall and winter. He was tired of using the wet vac to contain the moisture and had burned out two of them in the course of trying to keep his basement dry. Damon helped Dale to select the best system to keep his basement dry and installation was quick and easy, with minimal mess.

It's been over two months now and Dale says that he has completely forgotten to go down and check his walls for leaking. He has moved the wet vac out of the basement and only uses it now to sweep out his car! He's thrilled that he doesn't have to worry about his wet basement and can't believe how quickly he's gotten used to not worrying!

Crawlspace to CleanSpace:

John and his wife had mold problems in their 956 square foot crawlspace several times over the last few years. "I knew we needed a permanent solution to the water intrusion that was causing the mold, but I didn't want to spend the money," says John, "then Healthy Spaces told me about their financing and I realized that I would actually save money long term". The Healthy Spaces installation team installed CleanSpace engineered film, which is guaranteed for 25 years against rips and tears. The CleanSpace system and accompanying waterproofing and removal system that was installed will keep the crawlspace dry. By isolating the crawlspace from the groundwater intrusion, and installing a dehumidifier called a Sanidry, the homeowners will have lowered the relative humidity and inhibited mold growth. In addition, they gained 956 square feet of pristine white storage space!

We recently caught up with John and his wife for a six month follow up on their completed CleanSpace project and John told us, "It just feels so different in our house now! I didn't realize how humid the entire house was before we sealed the crawlspace. Now, we don't have mold problems, or moisture warping our floors!"

Black Plastic Vapor Barrier Upgraded to CleanSpace:
The Millers were tired of replacing their black plastic vapor barrier. They noted that for one reason or another, it felt like they were constantly replacing it. It would tear when they had HVAC work done, the crawlspace would flood and needed to be remediated, mold and fungal growth followed the flooding and required the vapor barrier to be replaced and so on.

On top of being tired of ripping up and laying down a vapor barrier, which was turning out to cost much more than they anticipated, they were also shocked to discover how much it was adding up to deal with a flooding and moldy crawlspace. They decided to have Healthy Spaces permanently resolve their crawlspace issues with CleanSpace. Just over 1200 sqft of CleanSpace was installed throughout their dirt crawlspace, isolating the home from the surrounding soil and air. The vents were covered and the CleanSpace installed up to the subfloor. With the crawlspace encapsulated, the Millers were able to condition the crawlspace and keep the entire home the right temperature with a significant reduction in heating and cooling costs!

It's been just over 8 months now since they had CleanSpace installed and Mrs. Miller gave us this feedback: "I don't cringe every time I pass a Home Depot anymore because I don't have to buy that stupid black plastic anymore. I don't have to price shop and I don't have to spend my weekends ripping it up and putting new stuff down".
