Indiana Foundation Repair Expert Awards Sportsmanship Toward Opponent with Down Syndrome

Evansville, IN - Healthy Spaces has awarded Paul Maier, Mt. Vernon High School's football coach, after his sportsmanship and willingness to make an unforgettable experience for senior player Zach Beckman, a member of the opposing team-- Jasper High School.

As team manager the past three years, Beckman has played a vital role on the Jasper football team. This past year marks Beckman's senior year and his first year participating as an official player on the team. Whilst having Down Syndrome, Beckman put forth a commendable effort against Maier's team. Between Beckman's courage and some support from Maier, Beckman was able to score a touchdown.

To Beckman and the entire community, Maier's sportsmanship toward Beckman demonstrates real heart and shows how high school sports should influence its players. This experience has proven unforgettable for everyone at the game.
