Homeowners in Hanson, KY, purchased their home over 10 years ago. They recently began to renovate their home when they discovered that their floors were creaking and were beginning to sag. They were afraid that the issue would get worse, so they decided to contact Healthy Spaces.
Upon inspection, our Design Specialist, Damon, found high humidity which was causing the deterioration of the floor joists in the crawl space. The weakened girders and floor joists are unable to continue supporting the weight above, and the floor above the crawl space becomes bouncy, soft, and may begin to sag.
Tad and his crew installed several SmartJacks in the crawl space. SmartJacks are used to permanently lifts and stabilizes existing beams and floor joists in the crawl space. Steel columns are secured to the beams or joists. Heavy-duty rods allow for adjustment and a custom fit for each SmartJack System installed.
In Evansville, IN, the home was for sale, but when the inspection report was completed, it was reported that water was finding its way inside the crawl space through the entry door located outside. The panel was not secured in a way, resulting in water being able to seep through the sides. For the home to complete the inspection test, this would need to be taken care of. The realtor reached out to Healthy Spaces to handle the issue!
The old plywood panel that was used needed to be discarded and replaced with the EverLast Panel. The EverLast Panel is all plastic, so it will not rot, warp, or need paint. Knobs screw into the anchors in the wall and draw the door tight against weather stripping to seal off outside air. Once the job was completed, the realtor was able to sell the home!
Homeowner John B., in Albion, IL started noticing water building up in his crawl space. If left alone, humidity and excess moisture can lead to mold growth, wood rot, and pest infestations. Crawl space moisture often migrates upstairs through the "stack effect," contributing to structural damage, musty odors, and high energy bills.
Our team first had to go in and perform mold remediation. Next our team installed a waterproofing system in the crawl space that included a SmartSump Crawl Space sump pump system and EZ Flow Drainage. The last step was to install a durable vapor barrier made of a 20-mil material similar to a pool liner called CleanSpace. CleanSpace® 20 mil vapor barrier is puncture and tear resistant. An anti-microbial agent is blended into the liner to kill mold and bacteria. John will now have peace of mind knowing that his crawl space in Albion, IL is clean and dry.
A homeowner in Morganfield, KY contacted us about water in their crawlspace that had led to mold growth. They needed a solution to remove the water and keep it from coming back.
We installed a full waterproofing and encapsulation system, including a SmartSump pump, drainage system, discharge lines, IceGuard, and LawnScape outlet to move water away from the home. To control moisture, we added drainage matting, CleanSpace liner, and a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. We also improved efficiency with SilverGlo insulation and spray foam at the rim joists, plus installed The Turtl access system.
The crawlspace is now dry, sealed, and protected, with controlled humidity and no risk of standing water returning.
