Creating a Healthier Environment in Odon, IN
Challenge
This homeowner in Odon purchased this home and was told the previous owner had waterproofing around the perimeter of the home installed. They would continue to get small amounts of water in the basement until they removed their downspouts from going into the ground. Since removing the downspouts, they've had no issues with water. However, their basement continues to smell. This homeowner was interested in installing a vapor barrier in their crawl space and ridding it of possible mold and musty smells. They gave us a call at Healthy Spaces and we turned their crawl space into a healthy, clean space!
Solution
After a free, no-obligation estimate, we were ready to transform this crawl space into a healthy, clean space. We wanted to ensure that this homeowner's residence would stay healthy and safe for years to come, and this requires installing our industry-leading vapor barrier products.
First, we installed our SilverGlo Wall Insulation. SilverGlo has tiny graphite particles that permeate its foam insulation to give it that silver/gray shine. The graphite particles reflect heat and lower the material's conductivity. SilverGlo is also able to resist heat conduction and boast a radiant barrier, which reflects heat back into their crawl space for ultimate energy savings.
Secondly, our CleanSpace Liner was installed on top of the SilverGlo. CleanSpace is a bright white crawl space line that prevents water vapor and humidity from passing through. This keeps their crawl space dry and protects their structure and insulation from mold and rot. On top of protecting from mold and rot, a dry crawl space will also be inhospitable to termites, cockroaches, ants, crickets, and many other pests that need excess moisture to survive.
Finally, to help keep humidity levels down to prevent mold spore growth, we installed a SaniDry XP. An ENERGY STAR rated dehumidifier, this product works relentlessly to keep humidity levels below 50% at all times. When humidity level is below this number, mold usually has a very hard time surviving in most environments. This dehumidifier is a powerful blowing motor that works to keep dry air circulating throughout your space, deplete any moisture, and clean the air as it works.
