Bowing Wall Solution in Robards, KY.

Challenge

Terry C. from Robards, KY was concerned when he noticed the condition of his foundation walls. The block foundation wall on the outside of his home was cracking and had recently started to bow in 2 different sections. Bowing can happen for many reasons, including hydrostatic pressure. This is when the soil around your house becomes saturated with water from heavy rains or water leaks, the water exerts additional pressure against the walls.

He quickly realized that this is his home’s foundation we’re talking about. It supports his house and everything in it, including his family. Foundation problems only get worse over time. Hoping, praying and putting them out of his mind wouldn't reverse the symptoms and make the situation better, so Terry decided to contact Healthy Spaces to evaluate the problem and provide an estimate for repairs.

Solution

Damon Cheatham, a Design Specialist, came out and evaluated the entire home. After evaluation, Damon and Terry worked together to form a solution that would be the best fit for Terry's problem.  

There were 10 PowerBraces installed from floor to ceiling in the basement along the perimeter and asked to include a tightening kit. Powerbraces are specifically designed to support basement walls and allow for potential straightening over time, and that's why a tightening kit is crucial. The PowerBrace has a patented system that allows for tightening. This means it can actually improve the condition of the wall over time, without compromising the condition of the wall by straightening it too fast.
