Ron S, from Elberfeld, IN was having 2 main problems with his basement: water and mold. As these are common problems, he knew they don't create a healthy environment to live in. Since water always finds the path of least resistance, it would intrude during rains through the cracks in the basement walls. With the water often sitting in the basement, it leads to a mold issue. The mold was growing on organic material, such as wood. Ron knew that he should call someone to come take a look before the problem got worse.
System Design Specialist, Chris Russell, inspected Ron's basement and noticed the standing water and mold growth as well. After the inspection, they sat down and Chris provided an estimate for the work, and Ron was ready to move forward to get his basement back to health. For starters, a mold remediation treatment was done through the basement to get rid of the mold. A WaterGuard system was installed to run any intruding water straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump. The water would then run outside from the discharge lines of the sump pump. A CleanSpace vapor is a heavy, durable, plastic liner that provides a vapor barrier while also draining water behind it and dramatically brightens the basement.
These homeowners in Newburgh, IN, were experiencing a lot of water in their basement whenever it would rain. In the before photo, you can see their old sump pump was unreliable, susceptible to problems sure to give the homeowners a run for their money. Instead of battling with the old sump pump, the Newburgh, IN, homeowners called Healthy Spaces and had the TripleSafe sump pump installed. The TripleSafe Sump pump system is our most reliable sump pump system and provides three levels of protection for your basement and your peace of mind.
Water and faulty discharge lines never lead to anything good. This homeowner noticed his crawl space was in seriously bad shape after flooding and never draining properly took its tole. Design Specialist, Jimmy Schaefer, took a thorough look and quickly came to a conclusion..the crawlspace was in need of encapsulation and a SmartSump pump system. EZ Flow drain and Ice guard also needed to be implemented to control any flooding and excess water
SmartSump pump system was installed which included a cast iron pump, airtight lid and floordrain. This also came with a WaterWatch alarm system which works to emit very loud sounds if it is overfilled. The EZ Flow drain and discharge line were fashioned around the perimeters to control any excess water and displace it away from the crawlspace. CleanSpace Drainage matting was placed to ensure space for water underneath and to avoid any puncture damage to the encapsulation. Finally, the SaniDry Sedona was placed to reduce humidity and the rest of the basement was sealed efficiently with foam insulation in any cracks or holes.
Efflorescence is a mineral build up on walls caused by groundwater seeping through concrete and then evaporating. It can be unsightly, especially if the walls are bright white!
The Healthy Spaces installation team used Biocide to treat the walls for mold and then installed a vapor retarding treatment called Cactus Juice. The walls look good as new!
Homeowner Jared G. from Oakland City, IN was ready to make all of his basement dreams come true. With the condition of his former basement, he never went down there. Mold covered the walls, and water was puddled on the floor. The space was not healthy and it was a waste of square footage in his home. He decided he wanted a place to hang out with his family and friends and make the investment so if he ever decided he wanted to sell his home, it would be worth more.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, was called to do a thorough inspection of Jared's basement. In conclusion, the basement needed mold remediation and a WaterGuard system to make the basement dry. The mold was coated all over the block walls, but it was removed and treated by our crew. The WaterGuard system is a drainage system around the perimeter of the basement which drains directly into your sump pump when water enters through the walls of your basement.
For the finishing products, Jared chose to install MillCreek Flooring. These have the warm, earthy look of wood, but are all plastic. One of the great characteristics of these floors is if there is ever a leak on these floors, just fix it and dry the area, and it's good as new.
